SENATE POISED TO ACT ON NOMINATION OF MG ROBERT T. CLARK

SLDN Urges Constituents to Contact Armed Services Committee Chairman &
Ranking Member to Request Open Hearing

The Senate Armed Services Committee is expected to act soon on
President Bush's nomination of MG Robert T. Clark for promotion to
Lieutenant General.  A decision regarding the nomination could come as
early as next week.

Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) has called on Sen. John
Warner (R-VA), Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and ranking
member Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) to hold an open hearing and consider
information from experts familiar with the Winchell murder and the
climate at Fort Campbell under MG Clark's leadership.  Though Clark
has testified before the Committee during a closed hearing, Senators
have refused to hear testimony from other individuals and
organizations.

Please contact Sen. Warner and Sen. Levin and ask that they hold an
open hearing on Clark's nomination and consider evidence from
individuals and organizations familiar with the Winchell murder and
the climate at Fort Campbell during MG Clark's tenure.
