9/11/08 –
Today, the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) and
the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) released an
all-important survey for Transgender Americans. This new survey
asks for a variety of information designed to provide people
with valuable data on the lives of transgender people.
Mara Keisling,
Executive Director, National Center for Transgender Equality
stated, “This
is an absolutely critical national effort. We urge all
transgender and gender non-conforming people to take the survey
to help guide us in making better laws and policies that will
improve the quality of life for all transgender people. We need
everyone’s voice in this, everyone’s participation.”
Since TAVA has
seen first hand how valuable this kind of information can be
through the survey we conducted earlier this year, we applaud
NCTE and NGLTF on gathering even more information that can be
used in the future. The TAVA White Paper report can be found
at:

“This is another
prime example of when organizations work together,” remarked
Monica Helms, President TAVA, “we can accomplish great things.
We look forward to combining all of our results for the
betterment of our community.”
